HOW A SURGERY DOES TAKE PLACE ?

As you must have noticed it earlier, there is a very little difference between a micrografting and ultra micro grafting session. For convenience reason we explain below in details a typical ultra micrografting session.

The day of the surgery should not cause any particular anguish or worry. The day before or the very morning of the surgery, you have to shampoo your hair using your usual product. You should not come to the clinic on an empty stomach, this is the opposite, and you should eat normally. If the surgery takes place in the morning, you should have a breakfast as usual. If the surgery takes place in the afternoon, you should have a light lunch and avoid alcohol.

The surgeon proceeds in his office to the last consultation; he will check out the medical analysis results and proceed to the administrative formalities. You will be given a tablet to relax in the waiting room before going to the surgery ward.
In the surgery ward, the surgeon will mark the areas to be transplanted according to your wishes and he will show them to you. Baldness pattern pictures are taken. Those pictures are personal and confidential. Their use is only to assess future results.
The hairs are cut at 1 mm on the back of the head (the crown). It represents a horizontal rectangular shaped area of about 1 cm height and 20 cm length according to the number of grafts to be transplanted.

See what´s happening after the procedures

In quietness and serenity...
You are peacefully seated in an armchair watching a movie or listening to some music.

Local anaesthesia:

Local anaesthesia nearly painless is done by a soft infiltration of a local anaesthetic which can be compared to the one used by dentists. For some cases, we apply without injection an anaesthetic cream on the skin to make it totally numb. We slowly anaesthetize the skin on the crown level. This is the only time you might feel discomfort even though some people do not even notice it. The same anaesthesia will be done for the recipient area.

Hair harvesting :

A cutaneous strip containing hair roots is taken and the incision is stitched with a absorbable suture which will be resorbed within 20 days. Therefore you do not need to come back to the clinic in order to remove the stitch. The horizontal scar is very fine, invisible and immediately hidden by the hair of the crown. Nobody can notice it! The harvesting stage lasts an average of 15 minutes!

Grafts preparation :

Everal assistants divide the strip into grafts on a cutting block. These grafts are then dissected one more time in follicular units of 1 or 2 hairs sometimes 3 hairs. This very thorough stage is made possible thanks to the retro illumination so that any least tiny root can be seen which could not be possible by using visual inspection or even direct lighting. After 30 minutes of dissection, a first grafts count is made and the data are recorded in the computer (Computerized Procedure Protocol - CPP). These data are used to know the maximum yield along with the precise stages schedule to be followed for the remaining surgery. Therefore you are sure that no graft is wasted nor damaged and that the harvesting is used to its maximum in real-time!

The graft preparation is generally a long stage. However our assistants are exclusively trained for this task by the Center's surgeons. They manage to cut between 200 and 250 grafts per hour which represents a big achievement. This allows the surgeon to proceed to longer hair transplant session.

Bald pattern recipient preparation :
The bald pattern has to be prepared before the grafts transplantation. The preparation starts at a particular time specified by the PCC (Computerized Procedure Protocol). The assistants prepare the grafts while you are still comfortably seated in your armchair. Once the scalp is anesthetized, 1 mm width micro incisions are done by the surgeon using a small instrument (micro blade or micro needle). This is a very important stage due to the way the incisions are done, their location, their spacing and their alignment which will determine the new hair growing orientation. All these factors will contribute to the final aesthetical appearance. This stage during which the hair surgeon can practice several thousand incisions lasts about 30 minutes! Once the recipient zone is made, the last surgical stage of hair transplantation takes place.

At the end of the surgery:

Once all the grafts have been transplanted, we proceed to a cleansing and a drying. In opposition to what was practice in the past, bandage are hardly used. You can do your hair normally the way it was before the surgery. Your physical appearance is exactly the same as before the surgery although there may be some redness or slight erythema along the recipient site region for a few days following the procedure.
You do not have more hair but you do have much more roots which will grow later. Do not forget the transplanted hairs transplanted hairs are very short (about 1 mm long).

The hair surgeon will explain you what to do after the surgery. He/she will give you a postoperative advises leaflet to follow along with a prescription of tablets to take for several days following the surgery. The surgeon will also give you his/her personal phone number. If any doubts or question, you have the possibility to call this number .

You can go home on the same day without any problem.

WHAT´S HAPPENING AFTER THE PROCEDURE?

You can comb your hair normally. Very small scabs will appear on the graft site. They'll disappear within a few days.
When all crushing is gone, your scalp should appear entirely normal and identical to the one you had before surgery: "not more hair" but with much more roots hidden under the scalp.

Natural and permanent hair regrowth is starting from the 3rd month...

Permanent hair will start growing up from the 3rd month after the surgery. This growth will be natural and permanent without any special care or special product.

The new hair will grow at a rate 1 to 2 cm per month. Meanwhile you have to be patient before they reach the required length. The new hair is very strong and can undergo any usual capillary treatment such as cutting, brushing, dying, etc.

Do not forget: hair transplanting is a natural technique which does not require particular care once it is done... Everything is done on the day of the surgery!!
